Zimbabwean striker Taonga Dondo led Jomo Cosmos' late charge to rescue their Nedbank Cup last 32 match against First Division side African Warriors, scoring an equaliser with 16 minutes left before Siyabonga Nhlapo grabbed a 90th minute winner to sail through on a 2-1 win.
Dondo enteredthe fray in the second half, after Malawian Jimmy Zakazaka had given Warriors a first half lead to frustrate the ABSA premiership side that only drew with giants Mamelodi Sundowns and FeeState Stars in their blast two games.
Cosmos barely looked like a PSL side as they chased shadows in a forgettable first half. Jomo Sono decided to rest a few regulars to give chance to less regular players, but the strategy almost back-fired, as Ezenkosi struggled in the first half.
Shrewd subsitutions after the break worked wonders for Jomo as his side wrestled the game away from the lowe division side.
In the 74th minute, Dondo fired a scorcher from the edge of the cornerof the penalty box to equalise for Cosmos, before Nhlapo made surethe match did not proceed to penalties. |
