Young Zim star joins Pirates in SA

Nyasha Munetsi in recent league action for FC Cape Town against Black Leopards
Nyasha 'Marshall' Munetsi was recently sold by his club FC Cape Town to South African topflight soccer giants Orlando Pirates Football Club. Although FC Cape Town has already announced the departure of Munetsi following a lot of media speculation, the Soweto giants are yet to officially confirm the capture of the 20-year old star.

It is now official that the Harare-based Friendly Academy graduate has left the Cape-based team for the ABSA premiership giants, at least from FC Cape Town perspective. The National First Division side announced the transfer of the Zimbabwean-born player, who has played for the Zim Under 17 national team, on their facebook page this week.

It is reported that Munetsi committed to a very long term contract with Orlando Pirates late last year after impressing the Buccaneers' technical department following short period of trials at the Mayfair-based side. The then 19-year old had played about 22 games for the Cape side during the 2015/2016 soccer season.

The 2015/2016 season was Munetsi's first season in FC Cape Town colours and he was so outstanding that Pirates decided to snap him before other 'hawks' in the league such as Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United and Bidvest Wits had started sniffing around for talent.

Munetsi plays as a central midfielder, and plays in more of an attacking and play-making position. He is a mobile and attacking central midfielder who thrives on attacking from the deep, and creates opportunities for strikers and other team mates. It is little wonder that he has already been likened to Yaya Toure of Manchester City in the Barclays English Premier Soccer League.

At Pirates, young Munetsi will be in the good company of compatriot, the in-form Bucs and Warriors striker Tendai Ndoro.
