Current and yesteryear mega stars of African football plying their trade in different parts of Europe will invade Harare on Friday first for the Fund-raising on Friday night Dinner followed by the testimonial match between the Friends of Benjani and the Zimbabwe Warriors.
News from Harare is that the stars have already arrived in the capital of Zimbabwe for the epic match to celebrate the life of Benjani in football and to officially put a closure to his international career with Zimbabwe's Warriors.
Stars already in Harare include the following: Emmanuel Adebayor, Peter Ndlovu, Kolo Toure, John Utaka, Dennis Oliech, Alex
Song, El Haji Diouf, Chris Samba, Khalilou Fadiga, Steven Pienaar, Lucas
Redebe, Benni McCarthy, Doctor Khumalo, Jay Jay Okocha, Daniel
Amokachi, Samuel Kuffuor, Emmanuel Frimpong, John Mensah, Stephen
Appiah, while the likes of Didier Drogba could make a surprise appearance.
The Zimbabwe national soccer team will line up stars such as England-based Bradley Pritchard of Charlton Athletics, Bundesliga side Augsburg's new on-loan player Knowledge Musona (Hoffenheim), France-based Ovidy Karuru, Khama Billiat of Ajax Cape Town, Carrington Nyadombo of Amazulu in South Africa, Arnold Chaka of Botswana champions Mochudi Center Chiefs, Vusa Nyoni based in Belgium, Onismor Bhasera, among other stars.
Benjani intends to use the proceeds of the match and the fund-raising dinner to open a soccer academy in his town of birth Bulawayo.
