Fufa vice-president in charge of the Super League Mujib Kasule and URA general secretary Henry Mayeku left for Cairo today morning to meet the Caf organising committee over the club’s disqualification from the Champions League.
URA refused to travel to Mali last weekend for the return leg against Djoliba due to insecurity in Bamako. Djoliba won the first 2-0 at Namboole.
"Caf wrote to us on Tuesday saying Bamako was safe, but there was no flight to the Malian capital," URA chairman Ali Ssekatawa said. "The second communication was telling us that we were disqualified from the competition without hearing us out."
"We believe we have a chance for anyone with a fair judgment to listen to us," added Ssekatawa.
Kasule was, however, less optimistic about the outcome of the meeting. "We are not really sure if we will get a positive feedback, but we hope for the best," he said.
